Description
Arvin Heidarzadeh, a third-year student at the University of Waterloo, is pursuing a degree in urban planning. Born and raised in Vaughan, Ontario, Arvin’s Persian heritage adds a vibrant cultural dimension to his identity.
In addition to his academic and recreational pursuits, Arvin is deeply moved by the struggles faced by Indigenous communities. Acknowledging the historical and contemporary challenges they endure, he is driven by a genuine desire to be a part of positive change. Arvin’s goal is to not only be an ally but an advocate for Indigenous rights and well-being.
Looking forward, Arvin sees his urban planning journey as more than a career path; it’s a commitment to actively shape communities that are inclusive and sustainable. He aspires to incorporate his understanding of Indigenous struggles into his work, contributing to a positive future where diverse perspectives are not only acknowledged but also valued. Fossil fuel reduction as well as the affordability of electricity, heating, and housing are valued highly by Arvin. Through his endeavors, Arvin aims to be a catalyst for equitable opportunities and a positive force in the ongoing journey toward a better, more inclusive world.
Beyond the academic realm, Arvin seeks comfort and excitement in the great outdoors. Whether it’s casting a line into waters during a fishing trip or engaging in basketball and soccer, his hobbies reflect a commitment to both personal well-being and diverse interests.
