Bill is the Executive Director of the Nunavut Economic Developers Association (NEDA), a membership-driven organization that assists community Economic Development Officers (EDOs) and economic development professionals in Nunavut. Originally from rural Southwestern Ontario, Bill currently lives and works in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Bill’s interest in clean energy and sustainability began on his family’s farm with solar power under the Ontario FIT Program and converting bio-heating. In 2015, he relocated to Nunavut and joined the Hamlet of Kugluktuk team as the Economic Development Officer. With direction from Hamlet Council, Bill was the project lead for Kugluktuk Recreation Complex 60kW Solar PV System and the Municipal Asset Efficiency retrofits.

Bill is a member of the Nunavut Utility Rates Review Council (URRC) and was appointed in 2021 by Premier Joe Savikataaq.

Why do you like mentoring with ICE?

I enjoy assisting catalysts to maximize their capacity to bring their projects and ideas to fruition. ICE has utilized its collaborative network to see catalysts and their projects succeed and giving back to help others do the same is very rewarding.

Who would you like to mentor with ICE?

Participants in remote communities, specifically Arctic/Nunavut, and those working for a local government or small business entrepreneurs.
