Adam Chamberlain is a partner with the law firm Gowling WLG and leader of the firm’s Climate Change and Environmental Law Group. He is also active in the firm’s Indigenous and Canada North groups. Certified as a specialist in both environmental law and Indigenous legal issues by the Law Society of Ontario, Adam has a broad practice with these areas at its heart. Adam is called to the bar in all three territories – as well as in Ontario. He works extensively on energy, including renewable generation, distribution, and transmission.
Adam has a unique blend of experience and a pragmatic approach to relationship building and problem-solving that equips him to provide advice to various Indigenous organizations (Inuit, Métis, and First Nations) and companies with Indigenous ownership. Adam is non-Indigenous but has lifelong relationships and experience with Indigenous Canadians. He considers himself an ally of his Indigenous friends, colleagues, and clients.
I am pleased to foster the interests and ambitions of Indigenous Canadians and particularly enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience on renewable energy projects and processes. I am a strong supporter of capacity building and believe ICE is an excellent forum.
Students and anyone interested in processes (particularly legal and regulatory) required to develop renewable energy projects or the business and legal relationships needed to facilitate their growth.
