Position Summary
ICE is seeking a self-motivated and independent individual to join our Communications team.
The Communications Manager will effectively promote ICE’s brand, vision, mission, programs, and participants. They will be responsible for developing and delivering various initiatives that support our communication and engagement efforts with the ICE community and our broader network. Their duties will include supporting the implementation of the Communications Strategy and providing guidance for creating brand collateral materials for both internal and external audiences.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Senior Communications Manager to identify and communicate relevant emerging issues through ICE’s communication channels, including the ICE Network, social media platforms, and newsletter.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the implementation of the ICE Communication Strategy to increase brand awareness and community engagement
- Lead the production of the ICE monthly newsletter
- Lead the development of the ICE Social Media Strategy and oversee the execution of social media content and targeted campaigns
- Lead the document design of the ICE Annual Report
- Review all ICE website design and content edits
- Supervise all ICE collateral material production
- Provide guidance on developing digital storytelling
- Produce the 20/20 Catalyst in Action profiles
- Support the planning and delivery of ICE events both internally and externally (i.e., The Gathering)
- Oversee the ICE Network management and strategy development and execution
- Lead the production of ICE Swag, conference materials and organizational printing needs
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent media industry experience
- Minimum two years of experience in communications managing social media platforms, and developing content for multiple platforms
- Proven graphic design experience. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
- Experience in journalistic principles, grammar and communications guidelines
- Proficient English language writing, editing and speaking is essential. Bilingualism is a strong asset
- Familiar and comfortable with general web technologies (WordPress)
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary concerns and issues related to Indigenous communities in Canada
- Ability to take directions and work independently
- Effective critical/analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to apply sound judgment and make decisions within the area, often on short notice
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize work effectively and under pressure

- Fluency in English is essential. Bilingualism is an asset
