Indigenous Clean Energy (ICE) is an independent non-profit organization that advances broad sustainable prosperity by amplifying First Nation, Inuit, and Métis leadership in clean energy projects. Through capacity-building, career training, and mentorship with high quality and hands-on programming, ICE supports Indigenous Peoples in their clean energy journeys, while promoting meaningful collaboration with energy companies, utilities, governments, development firms, clean tech innovators, the academic sector, and capital markets.

ICE is a fully remote workplace with hybrid options for those who live in several areas within Canada. Our headquarters is currently located in Ottawa, but we have plans for an on-reserve office in the near future.
Position Summary
Indigenous Clean Energy (ICE) is seeking a passionate new team member to join our Bringing It Home team, supporting our capacity-building and research projects and other critical energy efficiency work related to supporting Indigenous housing. The Energy Efficiency Coordinator will assist in areas including maintaining resources, communications, outreach, and creation of materials. The role would also support the Program Director with various projects critical to advancing energy efficiency housing opportunities for Indigenous people and communities. This will include a strong focus on engagement related to energy efficiency, financing and health connections and coordination with external partners. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn and work with mentors in the clean energy space.
This position is being funded by CMHC’s Housing Internship for Indigenous Youth.
Therefore, applicants must be an Indigenous youth between the ages of 18 and 30.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining an organized database of knowledge, tools, and resources
- Creating relevant resources to support program delivery
- Liaising with program participants including during recruitment and providing on-going facilitation support as needed
- Coordinating with external partners, mentors and content experts, advisory panels
- Completing research and analysis related to project financing, home efficiency-health connections and other topics as needed
- Synthesizing data gained through project activities
- Drafting and contributing to reports
- Coordinating and executing program deliverables according to program plan and timeline
- Contributing valuable and engaging content for the program website, blogs, and print marketing
- Supporting the Program Manager in the matching and recruitment of mentors for ICE Programs
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Diploma related to Business Administration, Social Sciences, Community Engagement or related field (lived experience may also be considered as equivalent)
- 1-3 years of work experience
- Knowledge of energy efficiency is an asset
- Experience in data collection, interviewing, and data analysis is an asset
- Capable of using Microsoft Office software as well as other web-based tools like Asana
- Able to meet deadlines and prioritize workload
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingualism will be considered an asset
- Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Previous experience working with First Nation, Inuit and Métis communities is an asset
- Comfortable coordinating multiple moving projects
- Resourceful, dependable and creative
- Able to take initiatives and work with minimal supervision in a small office environment/remote
- Very strong communicator
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills
- Flexibility to work extended hours on occasion
