In loving memory of Leona Humchitt: a legacy of dedication to her family, community and climate action

March 14th, 2025 — With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and community of our dear and beloved friend, Leona Humchitt.

Leona’s passing is a profound loss, it leaves us all heartbroken and means a significant loss for the clean energy and climate action spaces.

A proud member of the Heiltsuk Nation (Bella Bella, BC), Leona was deeply rooted in her community, guided by love, and dedicated to uplifting future generations.

We will miss her deeply. As a 20/20 Catalyst in 2019, she remained an essential part of the ICE community in countless ways—an IODI champion, a mentor, an Advisory Council member, and a cherished friend. Her laughter, wisdom, and contagious optimism will forever remain in our hearts.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Leona’s loved ones—her husband, Tommy, her children, Kristy, Cheryl, Flora, Mercedes, and Thomas, as well as her grandchildren. We also extend our heartfelt condolences to the Heiltsuk Climate Action team, where Leona’s visionary leadership made a great impact.

You will be deeply missed, Leona. Thank you for the legacy you leave behind and the cherished memories we shared.
