ICE is a fully remote workplace with hybrid options for those who live in the Ottawa area. We also offer a compressed and flexible work schedule.
Position Summary
Join us in empowering Indigenous youth and advancing a sustainable, equitable energy future as the Generation Power Program Coordinator. In this role, you will be a driving force behind our holistic career capacity-building youth program, facilitating meaningful connections between Indigenous youth and clean energy employers.
We are seeking a highly self-motivated team member to support the delivery of the Generation Power program. This individual will be expected to assist in a range of areas, including program development, program delivery, recruitment and outreach, participant on-boarding, data collection and input, communications, event planning and logistics, and fostering supportive relations between employers, youth participants, mentors, partners, and service providers. This position requires an individual who has an appetite for taking initiative to get things done and who can work independently. Candidates for this position should have exceptional interpersonal and writing skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Generation Power Co-Manager for tasks associated with recruitment and outreach, employer-intern pairing, onboarding, wage subsidy administration, file management, financial tracking, proposal writing, and reporting;
- Act as the primary point of contact for program inquiries, providing information and support to potential participants and employers;
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, industry associations, private corporations, and clean energy advocates;
- Lead the development and delivery of Generation Power’s Indigenous cultural awareness offerings by collaborating with partners and/or service providers. This includes collaborating on training objectives, curriculum outlines, formatting of session delivery, training schedule, and continuous assessment of employer needs and feedback;
- Assist with developing and updating Generation Power’s external communication assets, promotional materials, and internal forms and policies;
- Develop a needs assessment framework and engage with Indigenous youth applicants and enrolled participants to gather feedback on mentorship and coaching needs. Collaborate with the ICE Mentorship team to develop the Generation Power mentorship model and facilitate the mentor-mentee pairing process on an ongoing basis;
- Support the logistics of an Indigenous youth delegation to in-person ICE events, such as the 2024 ICE Gathering. Plan, organize, and support Indigenous youth-led panels and skill-building sessions at ICE events;
- Collaborate with the ICE Curriculum Lead to complete the development of the ICE Energize Course. Monitor and assess participant completion of the Energize Course on an ongoing basis;
- Draft content/reports and implement changes as requested by the manager;
- Research information and resources relevant for delivering programs;
- Identify opportunities to improve programming and share those suggestions with the manager.
Skills & Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in the fields of social sciences, education, project management, business or similar field is an asset;
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience or relevant lived experience;
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders;
- Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
- Fluent in English; bilingualism is an asset;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal);
- Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering quality results;
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously;
- Comfortable liaising with different stakeholders, including individuals in senior positions in communities or organizations;
- Strong interest in community building and inspiring interest in clean energy;
- Previous experience in youth empowerment and/or engagement is an asset;
- Previous experience working with First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities is a strong asset;
- Previous experience in delivering Indigenous cultural awareness training is an asset;
- Must have strong proficiency working with computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Asana.
